Yes, they do indeed exist: chances in the Middle East, chances for Germany and Europe in their southern neighbourhood. Beyond the crises and conflicts in the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf region an enormous potential for cooperation is unfolding. Chances are lying in business, energy, environment and education. The cooperation partner is the newly emerging, young middle class in these countries. At present, the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council appear to be the most dynamic. Their demand and willingness to invest both benefit European economy.
