Spotlight Europe # 2010/01: Cooperation with the Kremlin


The new Russian security strategy has not yet been answered seriously by Europeans. And the EU wants to place its partnership with the Russian Federation on a firmer footing after the new EU commission is in office. But how could common security paths between the EU, the US and Russia be constructed? Cortnie Shupe pursues this question in Spotlight Europe, «Cooperation with the Kremlin». Shupe argues that the solution to hitherto deadlocked constellations can only lie in the creation of new forums that allow the mutual convergence of security perceptions in Europe, Russia and the United States. She identifies possibilities for the conception of such forums and highlights the expectations associated with such a convergence.
